In Conditions of Fresh Water is a multimedia black spatial history project with visual artist Torkwase Dyson and environmental social scientist and Danielle Purifoy. Traversing post-Bellum black communities in Alamance County, NC and Lowndes County, AL, in Dyson’s mobile solar powered Studio South Zero, Dyson and Purifoy collaborate with community members to create an assemblage of oral histories, artifacts, images, and materials to understand the traditions and nuances of black environmental, cultural, and economic placemaking.
